I recently took piano lessons because I thought learning the piano would be good for my brain. In my youth, I studied the piano. Then in my teens I stopped and pursued an art career instead.
I began playing a baritone ukulele three years ago and continued playing today. This was prior to adopting Sam. I practiced at home in front of my other music lovers, Albert and Charlie the parakeets.
Then we adopted Sam. Little did I realize we adopted a music lover.

Whenever I played my ukulele, Sam made sure he had a front row seat. He curled himself into a ball and fall asleep at my feet. One day, he tried to strum the strings.
Then I brought home the keyboard and Sam was thrilled. He hopped on my shoulder while I was playing. Keep in mind, I just a beginner who is struggling to play the chords. But Sam doesn’t care. Today he licked my arm while I played, “Stand by me.” I may not be not be a concert pianist, but I will always enjoy playing for my four legged companion, Sam.
